I have had such a fucking whirlwind of a week.
First of all I managed to acquire a contract to a studio space within a group called Backlit, run by post-grad students and other artists. I was overjoyed by this and as of Wednesday I was drawing up plans to build my walls and fit lights and get settled in. BUT. During a photoshoot with the darling Darryn yesterday, I got a phone call from my fella to give me the absolutely life-changing news that his Dad has agreed to rent me the workshop and offices on his company's primary site FOR THE SAME RENT that I'm paying for a space I can't swing a cat in! I am over the moon. I can't believe it. I will still be working at Backlit for six months or so as Eventmaker (the business that is currently paying for the space) are moving elsewhere and it will take them a couple of months to get everything out. I will also need a few months to get everything set up - but literally I've got no electrics to fit, there's a kitchen and a bathroom, two offices, a metal workshop and a mezzanine with space for creating canvases and sculptures AND a little den which will be perfect for sofas and displaying my work.
Sorry for not pausing for a breath there, but DREAM COME TRUE.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
